Overview

Stephen King meets Pretty Little Liars in this pulse-pounding novel from the author of The Merciless

Just back from rehab, Casey regrets letting her friends Shana, Julie, and Aya talk her into coming to Survive the Night, an all-night, underground rave in a New York City subway tunnel. Surrounded by frightening drugs and menacing strangers, Casey doesn’t think Survive the Night could get any worse...

...until she comes across Julie’s mutilated body in a dank, black subway tunnel, red-eyed rats nibbling at her fingers. Casey thought she was just off with some guy—no one could hear her getting torn apart over the sound of pulsing music. And by the time they get back to the party, everyone is gone.

Desperate for help, Casey and her friends find themselves running through the putrid subway tunnels, searching for a way out. But every manhole is sealed shut, and every noise echoes eerily in the dark, reminding them they’re not alone.

They’re being hunted.

Trapped underground with someone—or something—out to get them, Casey can’t help but listen to Aya’s terrified refrain: “We’re all gonna die down here.”

Survive The Night

User Review

Setting
Survive The Night takes place in an underground train station at midnight. The group of friends are at a rave and end up discovering bodies and running from something they never imagined of. Desperate for help, they try finding a way out of the tunnels. Friend by friend each one dies.
Characters
Casey is the main character, she met Shana at a rehab center after a soccer injury. Casey was the top of her class, never made a bad decision, and always with her soccer team. After meeting Shana, she started to become reckless and making poor life decisions. Shana is Casey’s best friend, she wasn't the brightest in school and was known for her mistakes. Casey and Shana are always finding themselves in a pickle but stick through it together no matter what the situation is.
Good Points
Something Danielle Vega did that I liked was how she made the group of friends really sound like teenagers. The actions they did sounded like something typical high school students would do. I also liked how Danielle wrote this book, during each event she gave a flashback from Casey’s memory that made the story very intriguing. Another thing I liked about the book was how Danielle made each character relatable. The characters in this story you can pick them out easily and relate them to one of your friends, making the story feel as if it happened in real life.
Plot Summary
Survive The Night by Danielle Vega is about a group of teenage friends going to an underground rave at midnight. Casey is supposed to be spending the night at her soccer teams house, but when her best friend Shana arrives they leave to a bar. At the bar everyone groups up after hearing a rumor about the underground rave. In attempt of finding the rave, they find themselves lost in an underground train station. After arrival Casey instantly had a bad feeling about what was going to happen that night. Towards the end of the night, disaster strikes.
Ending
I was not too satisfied with the ending, it left me in questions with what will happen next. I think Danielle Vega could’ve done a better job with accommodating the ending to fit the story. This book was heartfelt, it gave a good visionary image. I could see myself and my friends following all these same things the group of friends did in this book. Danielle was trying to tell the audience to pick your friends carefully because you don’t know where you will find yourself ending up.
