Denny has more than his share of bad luck with life, and Enzo shares his perspective on the lessons of life. While satisfying in the resolution of the story, as will most dog stories, there is some sadness at the end. I particularly enjoyed Enzo's wise perspective as he tells Denny's story. Overall, a very good and satisfying read.
Narrated by Enzo, the dog, this book provides a perspective on the challenges Denny faces with the passing of his wife and the ensuing custody battle of his child. The narration by Enzo is refreshing with many a commentary on life's lessons.
Sometimes I felt a little bogged down with the racing descriptions, although they were relevant to the story line.
This was a real feel good kind of story. This is a love story between a dog and his family. This story spans over the lifetime of the dog,Enzo. Enzo is narating the story and it's very interesting to read about how observant the dog is, and how much more he notices about life and people than people realistically do. One of the main characters in the story dreams of racing cars and actually gets to try his hand at it. The dog has a love for racing as well. This story gives you something to ponder about, I loved it!
A very touching story of the love between a dog and his family. Written from the dog's point of view. The dog has quite a senseof humor and observation.
Some depressing and unfortunate situations throughout the story.

Story held my interest
Dogs and race cars would top my list of things that I have no interest in. However, I thought this was one of the best books that I have read. I laughed and I cried and then I cried some more. I felt connected to the dog that understood so much, but didn't have the power of speech. The family dynamics that are discussed are heart breaking. I loved this book even though it is told through the eyes of a dog.
This heartbreaking story of a rising race car driver and his family is narrated through the family dog, Enzo. The story chronicles Denny's life from the time he bought Enzo as a puppy, through meeting and marrying and losing his wife to cancer. Enzo's perspective on the challenges humans face and the things that make us great is interesting and sometimes painful. Denny is great, according to Enzo, and his story of loss, pain and the fight he has to put up to get custody of his daughter is a frustrating one. Once you think things can't get any worse, they do, but the metaphor for life that is The Art of Racing in the Rain is worth the read.
