A real page-turner

User Review

Setting
It was so believable! Everything about it. The bullies in high school, the biased teachers and administration, all of it could have actually happened. The fact that it took place in a basic teens life made it so applicable to me even though I couldn't ever see peoples' death dates.
Characters
Maddie is the main character. She can see peoples' death dates before they happen and after.
"Stubby" aka Arnold is her best friend and is loyal to a fault. He loves Maddie like a sister and would do anything for her.
Donny is Maddie's uncle and attorney. He disapproves of Maddie's mom's issues but helps them where he can.
Cheryl is Maddie's mom and also an alcoholic. She is harshly addicted and has lost hope with her life.
Agent Faraday is the lead FBI agent on the case and is "converted" to Maddie's side.
Aiden is the boy that Maddie has a crush on. He obviously is interested in her too.
Mrs. Duncan is Maddie's neighbor and helps her through hard times until she eventually dies.
All these characters are so complex and have such diverse and realistic back stories that the story comes to life without much of a struggle. It's hard not to like this book.
Good Points
This was not a perfect happy ending where everyone gets everything they want. It is realistic. Life is hard and it's not always fair. It taught a theme of persistence and loyalty. It showed what someone can overcome.
Bad Points
I didn't see very many bad points. It was creative and realistic and that's almost a perfect combination.
Plot Summary
Maddie is a normal teenage girl...except that pasted on the forehead of everyone she sees is the date they will die. Can she warn them or is it better to just not get involved? When a boy who's death she told to his mother ends up being murdered, Maddie becomes the main lead to a murder. The investigation will test everyone she loves.
Ending
It ends just the way you might think...well almost. The ability to relate to a story is the essence of why authors right, to entertain and touch emotionally. The ending proves this through its realistic creativity and plot diligence.

Setting
Tyne lives in a run down building nicknamed “Zoo” which is set in the city of Toronto. Tyne’s father is the superintendent and is responsible for the operation of the Zoo. The course of the setting runs from the dark alleys of Toronto to the tall skyscrapers. Both Tyne and her boyfriend, Stick, run around jumping from building to building place to place trying to solve the mystery behind the girls dead body and her father’s truthfulness.
Characters
In the book Defender, Tyne and Stick are the two main characters. Tyne and Stick must both put their relationship aside and try to uncover the truth and the lies of Tyne’s family. Tyne and Stick must solve the mystery and catch their father’s lies and bring evidence upon.
Good Points
The reader hast to use their own imagination to solve the mystery along with the characters. Tyne and Stick face assassination attempts and are followed by an unknown source who will do anything to stop them from uncovering the truth.
Bad Points
It bothered me the names of the characters a bit.

Setting
The story takes place in the year 2014. The majority of the setting is the high school. This settings role makes it harder for the main character to focus on the case that she is trying to help solve.
Characters
The main character of the book, Maddie, has a bunch of conflicts. Starting with her ability to see death dates. Her mother also makes her use her ability to make money so that she can drink. Her best friend Stubby is a very old fashioned character.
Good Points
One good question that the book raised on its own is if Patricia Tibbolt didn't believe that Maddie's ability is real, why did she go to her in the first place.I liked the book because it captured what an actual teenager is like in high school.
Bad Points
Something that was a little pointless in the book was the little crush that Maddie had on the kid from the other school.
Plot Summary
The book started off with a really suspicious death date of Patricia's son, which the death took place the week later. After Maddie tells Patricia this she gets into a bit of trouble. The FBI shows up at Maddie's school and automatically thinks Maddie had something to do with the disappearance of Patricia's son. Knowing that he is already dead, and other disappearances have started to happen, the FBI asks Maddie to help them with finding the murderer.
Ending
The ending of the story was actually really satisfying. The villain is so evil and it made for an extremely great plot twist.

Setting
The story takes place in a small town just outside of the city. It takes place around this time.
Characters
Maddie she can read the dates. Stubby is her best friend who goes to jail. Donny is the uncle and lawyer. And her mom who is an alcoholic.
Good Points
I think that the author did good on making the investigators look kinda bad. But later in the book when she helps them they help her. I like the book because it kept me on my toes and i kept wanting to read it.
Bad Points
It gets a little repetitive in one part of the book when they just keep going to talk to Faraday.
Plot Summary
the bully's egg her bike. The boy that she likes moves in next to her at the end of the book. Stubby gets beat into a coma when he goes to jail.
Ending
I liked the ending a lot everything ended good and the guy she liked moved in next door.
